Albatros Media corp. is the largest publishing house in the Czech Republic; with a combined production of up to 1,400 titles a year, it has been expanding rapidly in the Slovak Republic as well.
Our publishing portfolio arises mainly from our five fiction imprints – Albatros, the flagship, a traditional publisher of children’s literature (established in 1949 and known as National Children’s Publishing until 1969; over 11,000 titles have been published in more than 360 million copies; one of the seven co-founders of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in 1964); CooBoo, a modern publisher of young adult titles; Plus, publishing refined literature for adult readers; Motto, producing a diverse range of titles for adult readers; and XYZ, one of the most prominent and successful publishing houses in the Czech Republic with an exceptionally broad range of products, acquired in late 2011.
Albatros Media also includes six non-fiction brands. Apart from the original Computer Press brand that continues to publish on computer literature, digital photography, and other modern technologies, there are three other imprints – BizBooks for titles on management, economy, finance, and personal and career development; Edika for titles following modern educational trends; and CPress, broadening our portfolio with books on travel, health & family, crafts & hobbies, history & arts, motors, DIY, cooking etc.; Management Press, educational and professional publishers of books on management, marketing, sales, finance, human resource development or psychology and B4U Publishing - mainly non-fiction books for children and adults on a wide variety of popular subjects for international co-editions market.
